NRECA EXPO 2013; Updates From Chilly New Orleans

Posted 4/1/2013

"Hurtado & Associates has a long heritage of attendance at these annual events that dates back to 1976"

Hurtado & Associates showed a strong presence at this year’s Expo, filling an expansive booth space with a staff of ten who spent many hours over the 3 day event welcoming Managers, Board members, employees, and their family members, all sent to the meetings and EXPO by their home cooperatives from across the nation and even overseas. Jess and Jared Hurtado were joined by H&A staffers Tonya Hill and Will Potter. In addition, H&A partner insurer Zurich sent three underwriters, Lisa Stadler, Dana Goettsch, and Meghan Lingle, all of whom enjoyed the uncommon opportunity to actually meet some of their REC policyholders. Making up the rest of the group were brokers Linda Monnerjahn of AON Risk Services’ New Orleans office and Ryan McGaughey from AHM Financial Group in Saint Louis, MO, along with safety consultant Bruce Wright from Synebar Solutions.

As a NRECA Sponsoring company, Hurtado & Associates has a long heritage of attendance at these annual events that dates back to 1976. From its origins in the Frank B. Hall organization, through to its current composition, this group of insurance specialists has been continuously committed to meeting the needs of power distribution, generation, and co-generation companies.

In the words of H&A leader Jess A. Hurtado, “What is now Hurtado & Associates’ electric utility program is over 38 years old and has been operating continuously through a variety of company names. We are proud to be part of this ongoing tradition. The H&A staff brings focus and commitment to meeting the insurance needs of electric utility risks.”

Their mission, Hurtado says, is “to provide one-stop shopping for power distribution facilities; to coordinate, through our market knowledge and relationships, the most comprehensive coverage and competitive pricing available.” The company works throughout the United States and is licensed in all 50 states, and has grown from what was essentially a one-carrier market to a retail operation with multiple markets within each segment of the insurance marketplace.

Zurich (www.zurichna.com) is a leading commercial property-casualty insurance provider serving the global corporate, large corporate, middle market, specialties and programs sectors. It’s widely respected energy group has been a lead carrier for the H&A program since 2011. Lisa (primary package), Dana (excess liability), and the newest team member Meghan (property), all work on lines of coverage available to H&A clients through Zurich.

If you were among the many visitors to the booth, thanks for stopping by. If you missed us this time, keep an eye out for the booth next year in Nashville. We’ll be looking for you!
