"Several cooperatives have existing training programs, and they have been kind enough to share what they have created with us so that we can share the material with all of you. All the photographs we have collected are now available right from this Web site."
By Dean B. Wisecarver
Over the last two years, during our consultations with the electric cooperatives in our program, we have been recommending that the cooperatives develop and conduct training sessions for all employees, especially non-technical and office employees, on how to recognize basic problems or hazards out around the system. In fact, we previously published an article on this subject oin the january, 2001 issue. It can be found by navigating to it using the "Archive" button above.
Most cooperatives understand the purpose and value of such training. Yet, since photographs and illustrations are almost essential to make such training effective, many have not found the time to pull a session together. To help out, we have collected several photographs that you can use to develop your own session.
Several cooperatives have existing training programs, and they have been kind enough to share what they have created with us so that we can share the material with all of you. All the photographs we have collected are now available right from this Web site. The collection we have so far is only a beginning. Some photographs are better than others, but most are of some value so we decided not to wait any longer to post them. You preview each one and select those you feel are best for your purposes.
To get to the library, just click on the "Hazard Photos" tab above.
Once you are at the library, you will see a series of thumbnail photos. The view larger versions of each photo, just click on the thumbnail. A full view of the photo will show. NOTE: To get back to the library of thumbnails, you must use your browser’s “Back” button.
If you want to download a photo, click on the thumbnail to get to the full sized view. Then, RIGHT click anywhere on the full sized view and a menu will appear. Select “Save Picture As…” from the menu and when the Save Picture dialog box opens, pick a folder on your hard drive to save the photo into, and then click Save. Use your browser’s “Back” button to return to the thumbnail library to look for additional photos.
We want to add new photographs as they become available. If you have some you would be willing to share with us that are educational, please send them to me as email attachments. (You can find email links to us throughout this site.)
Most cooperatives that have created presentations using these photos have done so using MS Power Point or some other visual presentation software. Such software packages allow you to resize the photos to fit the slides, so the fact that those in our library vary in dimension should not pose any problems. Still, if you need help, don’t hesitate to call any of us at Synebar Solutions. We’d be happy to guide you through the process.
All of us here at Synebar Solutions would like to thank the people who so kindly contributed most of the photos in our library: Randy Lowe at Flint Energies in Georgia; Don Harbuck, Loss Control & Training Director for the Electric Cooperatives Of South Carolina; and George Coggin at Diverse Power in Georgia.
